Dear Alums,
Trust you all had a good break in Chinese New Year.
After all the eating and greeting of the festive season, we have decided to organise a scenic walk at the MacRitchie Reservoir trail. All Kellogg Alumni and family members and friends are welcome to join.
We are pleased to have the help of our alumni Bernard Maughan as our guide. The details are as follows:
Walk at MacRitchie Trail
Date/Time: Sunday, 26 Feb 2011 at 4 PM
Meeting Point: Meeting Drop-off point (near the car park), MacRitchie Reservoir, Lornie Road
Distance: 5km
Estimated time to complete the walk: 1.5hr
After the walk, we plan to go to Tanglin 56 on the corner of Tanglin Road and Napier Road for drinks. We’ll be there from 6:00pm onwards.

Highlights:
- Bird’s eye view of the forest with its large and tall forest trees that rise above the canopy
- A close encounter with interesting trees and plants along the trail
- Sights of native creatures of the forest like the Clouded Monitor Lizard, Common Sun Skink, Plantain Squirrel and Long-tailed Macaque
- Occasional glimpses of native birds like the Greater Racket-tailed Drongo, Striped Tit-Babbler and Olivewinged Bulbul.
We attach the trail map for you. The trail we will do is marked as Route 2 and it is the Purple route. The Trail is graded as Easy by the National Parks and it is mostly graded gravel and wooden boardwalk.
What to wear: Please wear good walking shoes, such as sneakers, trainers or hiking shoes. Hiking boots are not required but slip-slops, slippers, or sandals are not recommended. For clothes, please wear shorts, light-weight trousers, and gym shorts or tights, and polo shirts, tee-shirts, tank tops or singlets. Essentially, you want to be comfortable. Wear something that is durable, but light, cool, and easy to move in. Please also consider appropriate headwear and eyewear– we will be walking in shaded and sunny areas.
What to bring: A water bottle and towel is recommended. There will be a food court and vending machines available. If you need to deposit bulky items there are lockers operated for dollar coins.
